Siempre me había considerado una compradora inteligente. Fiel a mi estilo: colores neutros, vaqueros, clásicos renovables, vamos. Igual, un toque rockero aquí y otro bohemio allí, dependiendo de la época del año, pero la base, siempre la misma; pocas compras de tendencia que apenas me pondré.
El otro día, entre mis recortes de revistas encontré una entrevista a Marc Jacobs que recuerdo me había hecho replantearme esta teoría mía: compradora inteligente sí, pero aburrida, también.
Y cito (traduzco) textualmente un extracto: "Por qué apegarse a un estilo determinado? La moda para cada persona debería ser un día colores fuertes y estampados vibrantes y otro, colores pastel y encaje. Ríndete a tus estados de ánimo y caprichos. No sales de un concierto de rock sintiéndote igual que si salieras de la ópera; así que por qué sentirnos y vestir de la misma manera cada día?. Ten la mente abierta! Si te vistes acorde a tus estados de ánimo, como deberías, no tienes que tener un único estilo. Ponte aquello que te haga sentir especial cada día, es lo único que importa".
Moraleja: Ya hay bastantes cosas en la vida con las que no podemos experimentar y para las que debemos seguir una dirección determinada, así que vamos a disfrutar de aquéllas que nos permiten dar rienda suelta a la imaginación y ser mil mujeres en una dependiendo del día y del momento: la niña buena, la mala, la bohemia, la hippie, etc...
I have always considered myself a smart shopper. True to my style: neutrals, jeans, all of them renewable classics. Sometimes with a touch of rock here or a touch of boho there, depending on the time of the year; but always playing with the same basics. Very little trendy pieces, since I would probably not wear them more than once.
I recently found, among my magazines cut outs, an interview with Marc Jacobs that once made me rethink my theory: smart shopper yes, boring shopper also.
To quote Marc: "Why should you have a look to stick to? Fashion should be bold colors and bright prints one day and soft pastels and lace the next day. Really indulge your mood and whims. You don't leave a rock concert feeling the way you do after you've heard a symphony, so why always feel and look the same way? Be open! If you dress to suit your mood- as you should- you don't need to have a signature look."
Moral: There are already enough things in life that we can't play with, so lets enjoy those that get the imagination flowing and allow us to take on a thousand different looks depending on the moment of the day. Let's be one woman with a thousand looks.
