Bundled up and ready to go

Christmas is quickly approaching and I still have a mile long list of things to do. To make matters more interesting, we will be getting hit by a rain/snow storm  tomorrow. Oh well, here's to looking tres chic while running errands in a blizzard.

Coats: This is the garment that has kept the original function of clothes- to keep you warm. In the Stone Age women loved to keep warm with furs- and today the best materials for coats are those nearest to furs; this means wool and velvet. Personally, I don´t like seeing women in town without a coat. Coats can be either fitted or loose, whichever is your personal choice. But above everything they mus be practical. Practical in color and practical in style. (Christian Dior)

I was inspired to write this post while reading "The Little Dictionary of Fashion" written by Christian Dior during the 50´s.

Since I have been looking for a coat for three months, I thought that his description of the word and this little "Coat board" might help me decide... Help, anyone?

Winter Beauty Must Haves for Adri

The tan has officially faded and it's time for my face to face (pun intended) the brutality of cold weather. Dryness, paleness, redness, itchiness...does these sound familiar or am I alone on this one? I was never a believer of changing your beauty products according to the season, but the older I get the more I realize it's a necessity. Now I don't consider myself a beauty expert, but trial and error has led me to the products below and currently stand as favorites in my beauty routine, as well some oldies that I continue to go back to again and again.

1. Patricia Wexler M.D. Skin Brightening Daily Moisturizer SPF 30 - During the summer I'm willing to try a new moisturizer, but every winter I always use the same one. Not only does this moisturizer make my skin baby soft, but it also makes it brighter; which is a bonus when you haven't seen the sun in five days because it's so gloomy. Plus it only retails for $40, which in the world of moisturizers, is a steal.

2. Benefit Dr. Feelgood Balm -  This balm has become my little secret for weekends. It mattes your complexion while reducing the appearance of fine lines and pores, therefore making it perfect for days when you don't want to wear a lot of makeup but still want to look presentable.

3. Benefit They're Real! Mascara - This is my mascara of choice! It lengthens and separates the lashes plus it never smudges. This a year round favorite for me.

Mi rimmel preferido! Alarga y separa y además nunca se derrite. Es mi favorito los 365 días del año.

4. Stila Convertible Color Blush (Petunia Color) - I once heard from a little birdie (aka Diana) that powder blush is not good for the skin. Since then I've been keeping my eye out for cream based blushes, which apparently are a lot harder to find. Anyway after some extensive internet search, I've finally found a new winter favorite. The color gives of the perfect pink cheeks as if you were standing in the cold a second too long. Plus it can also work as a lip stain. Sweet!

Perfecto!

5. MAC Lipstick (Dark Side) - And finally, my beauty post wouldn't be complete without the mention of my current favorite lip color. Dark Side by MAC does just that, and brings out my darker sultrier side of me.

Get the Look-Christmas Parties are here

1 / 2 / 3 / 4

The clock is ticking on the highest volume of parties we'll attend in a three week period. The question, even though it´s always the same, is multiplied 500 times over: What to wear? I should start by saying, that I am not about covering myself in sequins and bling just because it´s Christmas but, we all have our own way of making it clear that we are going to a party. My way is pulling my mini leather skirt with studds out of my closet and adding a touch of red lipstick.
Everything but the lipstick and my Zara skirt (I bought it a couple months ago), are pieces that have been in my closet forever but I just can´t stop wearing. So I tried my best to replicate the look for anyone who felt like trying. The look for a girls night out during Christmas...done.

Here are a few items I wouldn't mind if Santa left underneath my Christmas tree.

Burberry, "THE" Party

And finally the day arrived, the long awaited fashion event of the year. Burberry celebrates its rentrée in the Chicago market with an unbelievable campaign, an ultra modern building and a soirée that was  impossible to forget. The campaign: young entrepreneurs and artists of every type, from chefs to musicians, were photographed throughout the city in all variations of the famous trench.

Five floors of Burberry indulgence, from luxury cosmetics to exclusives pieces of Burberry Prorsum, now stand proudly on Chicago´s Magnificent Mile in a stunning tower of Modernism and Art Deco.  Pictured above, confetti rain came falling on these men in black... trenches.

And here, my two fortunate friends were lucky enough to experience the new store sipping champagne, eating hors d'oeuvres, and listening to the London imported band and DJ amongst la crème de la crème of Chicago socials.

Although its like looking for Waldo, Christopher Bailey himself was also enjoying the party. We have to love the man who transformed the brand into what it is today and made Burberry the first fashion brand to embrace the digital world.

Who knew I would already be walking the red carpet in my first year in the fashion world? Actually the carpet was beige but who's judging? :)  It was the brand of my first real coat at 17 when I left the heat of my tropical island for the cold and snow of Salamanca. And here I am now, eyes wide and head set on, but keeping glamour unaltered in this amazing fabric and leather Burberry trench. HA!

P.S. No envy necessary, the coat was only on loan.  :-(
